How to get iOS 5 before the release date (Without a developer account)

iOS 5 has probably been one of the most anticipated iOS releases ever. If you're like me, then you can't wait til next Wednesday, October 12th. Luckily, for us non-developers, the iOS 5 Gold Master (aka pre-release) was released yesterday right after the Apple "Let's talk iPhone event". iOS 5 GM does not require activation on any part. Here's how to get it!

Prerequisites:

1. iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or later (iTunes 10.5 b7 is the latest available for Windows users)
2. iOS 5 Gold Master (the one that corresponds to your device)
3. iDevice
4. A Mac or Windows PC

How to:

1. Download iOS 5 GM that corresponds to your device and the aforementioned iTunes
2. Install iTunes beta version
3. Plug in your iPod and wait for iTunes to detect it
4. Click on your iDevices icon in the left panel on iTunes
5. Hold Shift (or Cmd on Mac) and Click restore [This will bring up a dialogue]
6. Point iTunes to the iOS 5 GM (should be in your Downloads folder) and click OK
7. Wait
8. Set up iDevice on screen
9. Enjoy!

That's it. It's as simple as that. No hacking, no illegal downloads.
