If you haven’t already read the first tips and tricks article, you may want to check it out. If you have already read it, here are some new tricks to try.
Mobile Devices
For those who don’t have a phone that supports apps, you can still take Google + with you. Currently, only people from India and the United States have access to the feature but in the Google + settings, you can add a cellphone number and it will send you texts as updates and you can use text messaging to update your stream.
Finishing your Post at a Later time
If you have decided to write a long post and want to use Google + as a blog, you can do so. However, you might no be able to save drafts and get back to it. Well, there is a trick that will allow you to do so.
Create a new empty circle called Drafts in your circles. Share the post with the Drafts circle only. You can then come back and edit the post later and share with your other circles when its complete.
Notification Woes
If the notifications keep bothering you, you can mute them.
Have a post that always comes to the top of the feed and is always at the top and want to see something different? Mute it.
Search Google + (Chrome users only)
Google + may not have a built in search engine to find posts that you remember and got hidden in the real time stream, but you can do that if you have Chrome as your web browser.
Go to: chrome://settings/searchEngines
Add a new entry for the following values.
Search in Posts
- Column 1: Google+ Posts
- Column 2: post
- Column 3: {google:baseURL}search?q=site:plus.google.com inurl:posts/* %s
Search for Profiles
- Column 1: Google+ Profiles
- Column 2: profile
- Column 3: {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&tbs=prfl:e
Share outside of Plus
If you are in Gmail, Docs, or any other Google service, you can share status updates from the top bar in the right corner.
