Google Plus Doubles Population in a Week

Friday, July 22, 2011

While Facebook may still have 750 million users, in a matter of a week, Google Plus doubled its users to 20 million. Only 3 weeks old, Google + has become a possible contender to Facebook after several failed attempts at a social network by Google.

Google Plus has over 1 billion daily shares and is growing at the fastest rate ever seen.

"It is definitely the fastest ascent to 20 million visitors that I can think of," Andrew Lipsman, ComScore's vice president of industry analysis, told the Los Angeles Times.

Google+ was launched a month ago as barely a beta and to a limited circle of testers who could invite people. While Google+ is still in field trial, it has opened up the ways that people can get in and the ways to which it has access.

The question is, will this growth last forever?
