In order to install Ubuntu, you need its install media. In this post, I will give you the links of where to get the iso and what to do with it. Burning the Ubuntu iso to a CD is the easiest method, but for Windows users that would rather use a USB, there is a way to do that too. Note that an Aspire One doesn’t have an optical drive.
Download Ubuntu 11.10
Ubuntu 11.10
If you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 Developer Preview, right-click on the iso and choose Burn image to disk. this will prompt you with Windows 7’s new iso burning tool and that will create your Ubuntu live CD. Otherwise, open your favorite disc utility program and follow its set of instructions. In Mac OS X, use the burn tool inside Disk Utility.
If you ware running Windows and prefer to use a USB drive, a 1GB drive is sufficient.
You will need to download Pendrive Linux which will do the steps for you,. Essentially, choose the ISO, choose the drive letter of your USB – refer to your Computer to get that letter, check off the format box and make sure that all Windows Explorer windows are closed before starting – or you will get an error halfway through that says it will be unbootable. From this point it will automate to completion.
Download Pendrive Linux
