Rumored App Store Confirmed as Windows 8 Feature

Microsoft will be rolling out an app store with its next major release of Windows. It will be similar to the app store that can be found in Mac OS X.

Rumors that Microsoft have been out for over a year now and had substance with documents that were leaked in June 2010.

It is now official as the App store was demonstrated at the All Things Digital D9 conference in late June where there was a direct link to a Microsoft Store in the new Windows Startup screen.

Microsoft also wants to prevent Apple from taking the term ‘App store’ home by using it as well.

It is expected that the new OS will launch some time in 2012.
