Snow Leopard on Acer Aspire One: Part 12: Duplicating Windows Functions in Finder

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Some will use the classic copy/paste, others, who are coming from Windows, like me, are used to holding ctrl while we drag and drop files to copy them. I found out that I will have a slight learning curve in Snow Leopard. Here is the heads up.

Snow Leopard’s finder won’t use the same copy method as Windows, but, it has one that is close enough. Speaking of Windows, it does involve the Windows key. Since the Windows key in Mac represents the option key in Mac, holding the Windows Key and dragging will copy the files instead of move them.

Another quick pointer is that the Delete key won’t work to get rid of files. You need to use Ctrl and Backspace – not Delete – to get that same functionality.

Stay tuned as this post updates with more tricks for Windows users who decided to try out Hackintosh.
