Snow Leopard on Acer Aspire One: Part 9: Handy Keyboard Shortcuts

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Chances are, your laptop doesn’t have an apple button, or a command button, or any of the other Mac-specific buttons. However, after a bit of fiddling, I may very well have found the alternatives.

Say that you want to copy something. In Windows, you would use Ctrl and C, in Mac Command and C. On a Windows-based machine running Mac, it will be Alt Car and C.

Here is a list of some of the buttons that I have found and what they do. This list will be updated in time so be sure to check back every once in a while.

Customizing this Option

For some, this may become difficult to get used to. There is a way to change the keyboard settings to swap the keys of the main functions.

For instance, I am used to Ctrl + C to copy things. Well, with a small tweak, you can do this on the Mac too.

  1. Go to your System Preferences and choose keyboard.
    pc to mac 1
  2. In the Keyboard Settings choose Modifier Keys
    keyboard 1
  3. Change the Command Key to Control and the Control Key to Command.
